Born in 1948 in Pistoia, where he still resides today, Carifi is known for his philosophical writings and for his intense poetic activity, influenced his friendship with Piero Bigongiari and by his translations into Italian of Hesse, Rousseau, Racine, Bataille, Trakl and Simone Weil.
